Students across BC are learning how easy it is to grow their own food. BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation offers teachers the opportunity to bring this place-based learning into their classrooms for free. Classrooms receive the large tubs, 25 Warba seed potatoes, plant food, soil is also provided in certain districts. The potatoes are planted in the classroom in March, during the months of April and May the students are repsonsbile for watering and ensuring the saftey of their plants. Then in June, the harvest, the most exciting part. Students can expect to harvest over 200 potatoes, then enjoy their delicious harvest.
